Job Summary:

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Autism Support Worker to provide tailored support for children with autism. You will play a crucial role in helping them develop essential life skills, communication strategies, and social interactions, ensuring they thrive in a safe and supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one and group support to children with autism, focusing on their individual strengths and challenges.
  • Assist with daily activities, sensory regulation, and communication techniques such as PECS or Makaton.
  • Work closely with families, teachers, and healthcare professionals to create personalized support plans.
  • Promote social integration and engagement through structured play, routines, and community-based activities.
  • Implement behavioral strategies to encourage positive interactions and emotional regulation.
  • Monitor progress and maintain accurate records in line with safeguarding policies.
  • Adapt activities to suit each child’s sensory preferences and developmental needs.
  • Foster a nurturing and understanding environment where children feel valued and supported.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with children with autism or neurodiverse individuals (preferred but not essential).
  • Qualifications in Health & Social Care, Childcare, Autism Awareness, or related fields.
  • Knowledge of autism-specific strategies, including visual schedules, social stories, and sensory integration.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with patience and empathy.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Understanding of safeguarding, child protection, and confidentiality policies
